Great views...but be ready for the rocks. Between Dan's Spring and the Allentown Shelter lies over a mile of straight rock fields. From small rocks that hurt your feet to huge boulders that are hard to navigate around. I would plan for an extra 2.5 hours if completing that section. Be prepared to crawl. From around Knife's Edge, a similar theme of rocks starts again. Again, plan extra time. Keep in mind that when it rains, these parts of the trails can become almost impossible to get through. Make sure to have two hiking sticks at all times for balance. One of ours got broken when traversing in the rain. Finally, DO NOT take the South Trail if you think there could be any precipitation while you're on it. The South Trail is pure rocks.
